TORONTO, ONTARIO, June 13, 2017 –This year, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) claimed a total of nine Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ Awards, and for the fifth time, more than any other auto manufacturer.
The Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ Awards recognize lower than expected ownership costs when compared to competitors in the same segments.
“It’s a great honour for us to be recognized with so many Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ awards again in 2017,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Canada Inc. “These prestigious awards reflect our commitment to consistently delivering value to our customers through the exceptional quality, durability and reliability of our vehicles.”
Demonstrating TCI’s leadership in offering Canadians a wide array of high-value trucks, Lexus was chosen as Vincentric’s Best Value Luxury Brand in the SUV/Crossover category, while two specific Lexus SUV models and three Toyota truck models won in their categories.
TCI’s hybrid vehicles were also well represented, including wins for the hybrid that started it all, the Toyota Prius, as well as the luxurious Lexus ES 300h, reinforcing the company’s market dominance in the hybrid segments.
This year’s winners included:
- Toyota Prius – Hybrid (five-time winner)
- Toyota Yaris – Subcompact (second year in a row)
- Toyota Highlander – Mid-Size SUV/Crossover (fourth year in a row)
- Toyota Sequoia – Large SUV/Crossover (sixth year in a row)
- Toyota Tacoma – Small Pickup (sixth year in a row)
- Lexus – Best Value Luxury Brand, SUVs & Crossovers
- Lexus ES 300h – Luxury Hybrid (fifth year in a row)
- Lexus NX 200t – Luxury Compact SUV/Crossover (two-time winner)
- Lexus RX350 – Luxury Mid-Size SUV/Crossover
To determine its awards, Vincentric analyzed more than 1,800 vehicle configurations for the 2017 model year, measuring total cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity costs, and repairs. Using a statistical model addressing 18 different scenarios, Vincentric identified the winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected costs given their market segment and price.
