Lexus created the blueprint for its luxury crossover utility vehicle more than 15 years ago with the launch of the original RX model in 1998. Today, Lexus continues its success in this segment with the 2016 RX 350, which has a starting MSRP of $43,020.
For 2016, a 3.5-liter direct-injection gasoline-powered V6 engine with 295 horsepower and 267 foot-pounds of torque powers the RX 350 and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. (A hybrid model is also available.)
Fuel economy ratings for the 2016 RX 350 are as follows: 19 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg combined for AWD models; and 20 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg combined for FWD models.
Luxury interior
With seating for five, the Lexus RX350 treats its passengers to space and comfort. In back, rear passengers have 38 inches of legroom, 57.6 inches of shoulder room and 56.1 inches of hip room. Additionally, cargo volume is 18.4 cubic feet with rear seats upright and 56.3 cubic feet with rear seats folded.
Luxury details can be found throughout the cabin, including fabric roof lining, chrome inside door handles, NuLuxe-trimmed seats in back or gray, carpeted floor mats (carpeted trunk mat optional), automatic dual-zone climate control and much, much more. Interior trims include Espresso Walnut, Matte Bamboo and Matte Linear Dark Mocha Wood.
The RX 350 upholds another Lexus tradition, the inclusion of a premium audio system as standard equipment. This nine-speaker Lexus Premium Audio System offers a multitude of music source choices, including SiriusXM Satellite Radio capability with a three-month trial subscription included.
Additionally, Lexus exclusively offers an available 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.
Stylish exterior
With a wheelbase of 109.8 inches, the RX 350 is available in 10 exterior colors, including Satin Cashmere Metallic, Autumn Shimmer, Caviar, Silver Lining Metallic and more.
Lexus’ attention to detail continues on the outside with details such as lower door chrome plating, 18-inch seven-spoke wheels, an integrated rear spoiler as well as the brand’s signature spindle grille.
