The 2019 Lexus LS to Come with Hydrogen Fuel Cell Tech

The new luxury car will be based on LF-FC concept.

The new luxury saloon 2019 Lexus LS is under development these days and we are looking forward to its reveal in the year 2019. The important thing about this car is that it will be a luxury car with hydrogen power.

The company through this project is looking to publicize the hydrogen fuel cell technology. The hydrogen fuel cell technology that will be used in the car will be provided by Toyota Mirai.

This 2019 Lexus LS, is the company’s rival to Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Jaguar XJ. All these cars are based on LF-FC concept.

The concept car including the technology was unveiled in year 2015 at Tokyo Motor Show. The LS is also expected to be sold in a V8 hybrid power train. The hybrid powertrain will be expected to produce an output of 535bhp.

The Europe boss of Lexus, Alain Uyttenhoven said that at Lexus they known how to work with fuel cells and the way they are made. The challenge that will be catered in this project will be utilizing the power cells to attain the optimum power in the cars.

According to AutoCar, he also said that buyers have set their expectations. However they are working steadily to achieve the right kind of performance level by introducing fuel cells in their vehicles.

Note that the fuel cell vehicles introduced by Toyota last year did not see a lot of sales. Thus Lexus surely will have to put a lot of effort in this domain to make the fuel cell version of 2019 Lexus LS work in the right way.

The hydrogen powered fuel system that was introduced in LF-FC concept had motors that provided instantaneous power to the wheel thus providing equal force to all four wheels.
