    • NX 250, NX 350 and self-charging hybrid NX 350h now on sale
  • NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid now available to order

TORONTO, ONTARIO – December 23rd, 2021 – Canadian Lexus guests will be able to treat themselves to something special during the upcoming holiday season, as Lexus Dealers across the country begin booking orders for the all-new 2022 Lexus NX Series luxury crossover. This exciting next-generation model delivers a long list of firsts – including the all-new Lexus Interface multimedia system and the first-ever plug-in hybrid Lexus model, the NX 450h+.

“We are excited to start booking orders for the new NX before the year is out, to offer our guests something special to look forward to in early 2022,” said Martin Gilbert, Director of Lexus in Canada. “The all-new, Canadian-built Lexus NX sets a new standard for luxury crossovers, with many class-leading innovations – from electrified powertrains and driving dynamics… to styling, safety, and connectivity services.”

For this second generation NX, the already-popular Lexus luxury crossover will be offered in 15 models and trim combinations built around four powertrains. Lexus Dealers have began booking orders for the NX 350h, NX 350, and NX 250, while Canadians may place their orders for the NX 450h+ starting December 23rd. Full production starts in early 2022 as the NX series joins the Lexus RX on the assembly line at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Cambridge, Ontario – one of the top auto assembly plants in the world, with a long list of quality awards to its credit.

For 2022, Lexus designers gave the NX a complete body makeover, from the refined signature Lexus “spindle” grille to new, full-width blade tail lamps and spelled out “Lexus” brand across the rear. The result conveys a powerful message curbside – expressing the NX’s advanced, modern sophistication.

Designers then turned their attention to the interior, creating a cabin that creates an oasis of calm. Lexus builds on its already well-known reputation for quiet interiors with several enhancements to further reduce road noise, vibration, and harshness. Designers then crafted a thematic ambient illumination system. Available on a range of trim levels, this system bathes the NX interior in 64 colours organized into a choice of 14 themes – each selected to express ephemeral emotions and evoke nature-inspired feelings such as “Rain Forest”, “Waterfall”, and “Sunset”.

Newly designed heated front seats are standard, while select models are enhanced with ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. Guests will also notice increased head and legroom, while the rear cargo area offers greater storage space than in previous models.

In a first for the NX, the available panoramic moonroof gives both the front and rear passengers the ability to see the sky with just the push of a button. Its smooth gliding opening and closing motion provides for easy stargazing, or additional airflow on a sunny day.

Drivers will appreciate a cockpit design that’s focussed on connecting them with their vehicle. A 7-inch multi-information display is an NX first, as is the 10-inch head up display on select trim levels. Both are designed to convey vehicle information, alerts, and updates within the driver’s line of sight. Meantime, most driving-related controls are concentrated on the steering wheel to allow for intuitive operation while keeping the driver’s eyes on the road.

Dial controls remain for frequently used functions such as climate control and media volume, while redesigned controls make it easier to access comfort features such as heated seat settings. All enhancements combine to create a more advanced, yet user-friendly, in-vehicle experience.

The biggest enhancement to in-vehicle technology is the introduction of an all-new multimedia system. Developed in North America, Lexus Interface uses a standard 9.8-inch touchscreen to put an array of multimedia features within easy reach. On select models, the available 14-inch touch screen – a first for NX – delivers an even more immersive multimedia experience.

Lexus Interface incorporates a new virtual assistant, developed with a human-centric approach and intended to be the primary way in which guests interact with the new multimedia system. The system enables a voice-first approach to access navigation, media, phone, and certain vehicle features such as the climate control system and window opening/closing. Furthermore, Lexus Interface leverages smart phones and cloud-based services to allow guests to transport their settings seamlessly to any vehicle equipped with the system.

Designers crafted the Lexus Interface native navigation system with ease of use and functional beauty in mind. Featuring 100 percent cloud capability and integrated Google POI data, the system delivers faster and more accurate directions and mapping. In addition, the system predicts when the vehicle is headed into an area with poor network coverage, and downloads relevant maps and data so it continues to function seamlessly when offline. The NX multimedia system is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

While designers crafted a new look and feel for the NX, engineers went to work on the vehicle’s performance. The result is a choice of four powertrains:

  • The NX 450h+ introduces the first plug-in hybrid vehicle powertrain to the Lexus line-up. The NX 450h+ features a newly developed high-capacity lithium-ion battery that achieves electric vehicle (EV) output equivalent to a 2.0L gas engine and an estimated EV range of 61 km. The plug-in hybrid system’s battery can be fully recharged in as little as 2.5 hours, and because the system is integrated into a newly developed self-charging Lexus Hybrid Drive built around a 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine, there are no concerns about range.
  • Guest looking for hybrid power may also choose the Lexus NX 350h, a self-charging hybrid electric that delivers both great performance and impressive fuel efficiency. This model’s new Lexus Hybrid Drive generates 240 system horsepower – a 20 percent increase over the previous generation model.
  • The NX 350 is a conventionally powered model built around a 2.4L turbocharged engine and new eight-speed automatic transmission. This model boasts 275 peak horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque to deliver a spirited driving experience.
  • The NX 250 features a 2.5L four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic that delivers a proven combination of power and efficiency.

For those seeking even more spirited performance with aggressive styling to match, Lexus offers select NX 350 and NX 450h+ models with available F SPORT packaging. These models deliver even sportier driving dynamics with active variable suspension systems and front and rear performance dampers. Models equipped with these packages also feature a many F SPORT exclusive details – including the grille and bumpers, colour-keyed fenders, black roof rails, dark graphite aluminum ornamentation, unique meter cluster, sport seats clad in Black and Circuit Red NuLuxe upholstery, a newly developed F SPORT steering wheel, and aluminum pedals and scuff plates.

As a Lexus, every NX series model is impressively equipped with state of the art safety features. The all-new NX is enhanced with Lexus Safety System + 3.0. This portfolio of active safety technologies supports the driver’s awareness and decision-making under a range of traffic conditions and contingencies. Other safety systems include a backup camera with back guide monitor, active front headrests with whiplash protection, and eight airbags. An all-new digital latch system enables doors to open smoothly at the touch of a button when entering or exiting the vehicle – and by scanning the environment, Safe Exit Assist alerts the driver and passengers to avoid the risk of accidental contact with passing vehicles and cyclists, helping ensure safe openings and closings. Select models are enhanced with a range of additional safety technologies – including a digital rear view mirror, the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert or Rear Cross Traffic Brake, Panoramic View Monitor, and Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking.
