Photo Lexus LCThe Lexus LC looks to be heading for a debut in production guise at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show as Lexus confirm an ‘unprecedented’ world premiere.

It will be four years this month since the Lexus LF-LC concept debuted at the Detroit Motor Show, and it looks like Lexus is finally ready to turn the FF-LC concept in to a production reality, with a world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show next week.

Lexus has announced on its website that it has a world premiere in Detroit, and the only car we’re expecting (and have been for some time) is the LC. Yes, the Lexus LF-FC we saw last year previewing the next generation LS is a possibility, but it seems too early for that.

In fact, the LC looked to be ready for a production debut a year ago when Lexus trademarked the LC 500 and LC 500h names, making it clear there will be an LC with a naturally aspirated engine as well as the hybrid you’d expect.

It looks like the LC 500 will get the 5.0 litre V8 seen in the RC F and GS F, with the LC 500h coming with a 3.5 litre hybrid that could offer up to 500bhp. We could even see an LC F with as much as 600bhp as a sort of poor man’s Lexus LFA, and the introduction of a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

What we also expect is that much of the design language of the LF-LC Concept will carry over – as it has in to much of the mainstream Lexus models since the concept was first introduced – which means a very appealing swoopy Lexus with a big spindle grill and show-stopping looks.

With just a week to go before the Lexus premiere in Detroit, more should be forthcoming soon.
