An Instagram user has given us the opportunity to hear the 2018 Lexus LC 500’s engine note, and oh what a joyous note it is. Let its angry, melodic V-8 symphony rev high in your earbuds. This is why a twin-turbo V-6 will always be missing something special.
Perhaps one of the most aggressively styled vehicles in its lineup, the LC 500 is Lexus’ new flagship coupe and its design is based on the LF-LC Concept that was revealed at the 2012 Detroit auto show. Under the hood, the rear-drive LC 500 is powered by the same high-revving 5.0-liter V-8 with 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque found in the RC F and GS F. However, unlike the RC F and GS F, the LC 500 uses a new ten-speed automatic transmission instead of the eight-speed unit found in many Lexus models.
In addition to the V-8 powered LC 500, there will also be a LC 500h, which features a four-speed automatic and a hybrid powertrain that pairs a 3.5-liter V-6 and an electric motor for a combined output of 354 hp.
