It looks like Apple, Inc. has nabbed a spot on the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) updated list of companies that has received the green light to test out their autonomous vehicles in the state.
For quite some time now, the rumor mill has been busy churning out news that Apple is keen on getting itself involved in the automotive industry.
However, last year it was said that Apple had terminated plans to produce its own car for the market. Apparently, the company will instead focus on developing self-driving technology, just like its all-time competitor, Google.
A report from TechCrunch states that the tech giant has been granted an autonomous vehicle test permit and this particular permit includes three 2015 Lexus RX 450h test vehicles along with six drivers.
If you weren’t aware, Google had used the Lexus RX 450h to test out its autonomous driving technology, as well. That said, don’t expect to see an autonomous Apple test car so soon but we’re pretty sure it’s not going to take too long.
