- Now on sale in Canadian dealerships
TORONTO, ONTARIO – SEPTEMBER 13th, 2022 – Enjoy the freedom to explore your world in comfort and style, with the Lexus GX 460 – the authentic, off-road capable, luxury SUV. An inspiring blend of “rugged” and “refined”, the GX series welcomes black the Black Line Special Edition for the 2023 model year – enhancing the GX with a limited production styling package.
“The GX delights guests with its commanding presence, luxurious interior, and welcome versatility – plus remarkable performance on almost any terrain,” said Martin Gilbert, Director of Lexus in Canada. “For 2023, we’re thrilled to expand our Black Line Edition styling to the GX family.”
For the GX guest, all-terrain performance is a must-have – and the GX was designed from the start to exceed expectations. Lexus designers and engineers have crafted a robust body-on-frame SUV to deliver genuine off-road capability, with superior abilities to absorb bumps and vibrations while enhancing vehicle reliability. At the same time, care was taken to ensure the cabin was isolated from the frame to deliver smooth on-road performance and a peaceful cabin environment that has become a signature of all Lexus vehicles.
The GX received a Black Line Special Edition treatment for the first time last year, and it returns for the 2023 model year with additional features and unique premium touches sure to turn heads. Assembled on the Signature grade, the limited edition 2023 Black Line SE will come standard with Panoramic View Monitor to provide a bird’s eye view of the vehicle and objects around it. A new Eminent White Pearl exterior paint is added to the color options that also include Black Onyx and Nori Green Pearl. A darker finish can be found on the skid plate, fog lamp and grille, and clear taillamps with black inserts. Black Line SE also includes unique 18-inch glossy black wheels. For the finishing touch, the roof spoiler and shark fin are now painted black. Inside, new Grey NuLuxe-trimmed seats accent the interior with black headliner, complemented by Grey stitching and Black Matte Ash Wood ornamentation on the steering wheel.
Under the hood of the 2023 GX, a 4.6L V8 delivers 301 peak horsepower and up to 329 lb-ft of torque. This is mated to a six-speed multi-mode automatic transmission, a full-time four-wheel-drive powertrain, and an impressive list of advanced handling and control technologies – including Active Traction Control and a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System with Active Height Control and rear air suspension. The result is confident acceleration, terrain-conquering capability, and a towing rating of 2,948 kg (6,500 lbs).
Utilizing the technology of the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), the GX enhances handling and ride comfort by helping to keep the vehicle level in both on and off-road conditions. When the GX encounters an uneven surface, one compressed cylinder causes fluid to flow to the other cylinder, helping the vehicle to keep all four wheels on the ground. The system works without any action needed by the driver.
Another asset of the GX for on-road smoothness is the available Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS). The AVS uses electronically controlled dampers that adjust to road surface conditions. The driver can tailor the ride by selecting from Normal, Sport or Comfort modes.
The GX series features styling to match. Curbside, signature L motif LED headlights flank the aggressive front grille while front and rear spoilers express dynamism and power. Exterior details of note include headlamp washers, LED fog lamps and rear lamps, illuminated running boards, and silver roof rails. Inside, a sturdy design is polished to an elegant finish, with leather clad seats providing comfort and space for up to seven people. The GX is also impressively versatile. The 40/20/40 reclining middle row seats and 60/40 folding rear seats let guests quickly transform the GX from luxury passenger carrier to capable cargo hauler.
The GX also features impressive in-vehicle technologies, placing convenience and connectivity at each guest’s fingertips. All models are standard equipped with Lexus Navigation with Remote, a 10.3” touch screen display, Remote Touch Interface, Lexus connectivity services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and integration with the Lexus App.
As a Lexus, every GX also features a comprehensive safety package, headlined by Lexus Safety System + – a bundle of advanced active safety technologies that enhances driver abilities. Other safety systems include 10 air bags, the Lexus blind spot monitor system with rear cross traffic alert, intuitive parking assist, an anti-theft system with engine immobilizer, and a backup camera.
