The Lexus RX, a mid-size luxury crossover SUV based on the Toyota Highlander/Kluger, has been sold since 1998. The RX, first released Japan in late 1997 as the Toyota Harrier, began its export sales in March 1998 as the Lexus RX. Twenty years later, the Lexus RX has perfected the concept of the luxury crossover in terms of performance, comfort and quality.

Now, the fourth-generation Lexus RX is focused on safety, multimedia, and chassis fronts. Although the exterior updates are minimal, the new vehicle does feature thinner headlight clusters, a redesigned spindle grille with square inserts, and revised taillights. Meanwhile, the interior has added paddle shifters, six standard USB ports, and standard NuLuxe leatherette upholstery.

The 2020 Lexus RX has added Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Alexa integration to the Lexus Remote Touch interface, as well as an 8.0-inch screen and an optional 12.3-inch screen, which are now both touchscreens. The touchscreen also features a more user-friendly voice command function.

The new RX also includes thicker front and rear stabilizer bars, retuned dampers, and shock absorbers, and stronger anti-roll bars that enhance ride comfort. There is also a new brake-based torque vectoring system the imperceptibly applies the brakes on the inner wheels to improve handling and stability on turns.

In addition, F Sport models come with an upgraded Active Variable Suspension system that promises to be more responsive as well as a cold air intake, active sound control, a special electric power steering system, and a heated steering wheel, while Standard F Sport models feature performance-tuned dampers and Sport+ and custom drive modes.

In terms of safety features, the 2020 Lexus RX includes the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0, which integrates low-light pedestrian detection and cyclist detection. Lane tracing assist identifies road markings and centers the vehicle when the adaptive cruise control is activated. If the road is not clearly marked, the system can follow the car ahead of you.

The 2020 Lexus RX 350 will have a 3.5-liter V-6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The RX 450h combines the six-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a CVT for 308 hp. All-wheel drive is included in the RX 450h (optional on the RX 350), which features a second electric motor to turn the rear wheels. The SUV continues to be available in two- and three-row models. The 2020 Lexus RX will hit the market in the third quarter of 2019.
