The premium SUV 2018 Lexus NX Hybrid will get more forked look this time aroundAug 23rd, 2017
The 2018 Lexus NX has been a topic of speculation for automobile enthusiasts in recent times. Given the fact that the 2017 variant of the vehicle delivered on its promise of being a fun to drive premium SUV, expectations are high for the 2018 variant as well. However, the revamped version would not be a total makeover of the previous one. Instead, it is only bringing in minor changes that can make a major impact.
2018 LEXUS NX – ATTRACTIVE DESIGN
In terms of visual appeal, the already compact SUV has been given a more forked look this time around. The spindle grille, as well as the headlamps, remain untouched. However, the rear bumper has been tweaked a bit. The wheels sport a sense of freshness as well. The taillights on the 2018 variant are also on the thinner side.
There are a few upgrades in the interior as well, mostly focusing on polished buttons and knobs. Tweaked HVAC controls also make the list of interior design changes incorporated in the compact SUV. The 2018 variant has thankfully improved on one of the drawbacks of the previous ones as well; the interface of the central display screen. The new 10.3-inch screen comes with a remote-controlled touchpad. Also, the F sport variant will also make its entry along with the launch of the standard variant.
The F Sport 2018 Lexus NX is basically a more muscular imagination of the standard variant. The completely black front grille and meaner looking wheels differentiate it from the standard NX. More or less, the 2018 Lexus NX preserves the core aesthetics and design principles of 2017 one.
ENGINE AND ELECTRIC MOTOR
Under the hood, the 2018 variant of the Lexus NX is not much different from 2017 one. Other than an improved suspension, everything else remains the same. The standard version of the NX, previously called the NX 200t, comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 4 cylinders. The engine churns out a horsepower of 235 at 5,700 RPM (Rotations Per Minute).
In the range of 1,650-4000 RPM, the turbocharged engine delivers a torque of 258 lb-ft. The 2018 Lexus NX comes with a mileage of 22 MPG (Miles Per Gallon) in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. The fuel economy on the highway reduces to 27 MPG with the F Sport version.
The hybrid version of the vehicle, called the NX 300h, comes with a 2.5-litre inline engine with 4 cylinders. The electric motor delivers an average of 141 horsepower whereas the engine churns out a horsepower of 154 at 5,700 RPM. Its fuel economy measures 33/40 MPG for the city and the highway respectively. The 2018 Lexus NX is more than just a pretty face. It is just as powerful as it looks.
2018 LEXUS NX – EXPECTED RELEASE DATE AND COST
The 2018 variant of this premium SUV is expected to go on sale in the fall of 2017. The pricing will likely stay close to the $36,260 entry mark of the current variant. All in all, the 2018 Lexus NX is an exciting edition to the line-up of premium SUVs making their way to the automobile market in the coming months.
